Terms of service

last updated: July 4, 2026 · the tl;dr chips are binding summaries, not marketing

1 · The service

tl;dr — disposable inboxes for automated testing. receive-only.

MailFixture provides receive-only email inboxes, an API to create and query them, and extraction of structured values (codes, links) from received messages. It is built for automated testing and development workflows. We never send email on your behalf and the service includes no capability to do so.

2 · Acceptable use

tl;dr — test your own systems. don't route real users' mail here, don't evade other people's signup rules.

You may use MailFixture to receive email from systems you own or are authorized to test. You may not: (a) use inboxes as mailboxes for real end-users or to receive third parties' personal correspondence; (b) use the service to create accounts on, scrape, or evade the anti-abuse measures of services you don't operate or have authorization to test; (c) use it to harvest credentials or intercept mail intended for someone else; (d) resell inboxes as a consumer "temp mail" product. We suspend for abuse first and email you second — CI pipelines of paying customers don't wait on abuse reviews.

3 · Plans, billing, overage

tl;dr — no per-seat fees, soft overage at $2/1k, cancel any time, effective next cycle

Plans bill monthly in advance through Stripe. No plan limits the number of users in a workspace. Messages beyond your plan's monthly allowance bill at $2.00 per 1,000 in arrears; the service does not interrupt delivery at the limit unless you enable a hard cap. You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel self-serve; downgrades and cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period. Fees are non-refundable except where required by law — or where we broke something, in which case we credit you without being asked.

4 · Your data

tl;dr — your messages are yours; we just hold them briefly. see Privacy.

You retain all rights to message content received by your inboxes. You grant us the limited license needed to store, parse, and serve it back to you. Handling, retention, and deletion are governed by the privacy policy, which is part of these terms.

5 · Service levels

tl;dr — 99.9% API uptime target; credits when we miss it on paid plans

We target 99.9% monthly uptime for the API and mail ingestion, measured and published on the status page. Paid plans receive service credits of 5% of the monthly fee per 0.1% of missed uptime, capped at 50%, claimed by emailing support within 30 days. Scheduled maintenance is announced 72 hours ahead and doesn't count against uptime — we do it anyway at hours your CI is least likely to notice.

6 · Disclaimers & liability

tl;dr — the service is "as is"; our liability caps at 12 months of fees

The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. Email is a distributed system older than most of our customers; we cannot guarantee every message sent to an inbox will arrive. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability under these terms is limited to the fees you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, and neither party is liable for indirect or consequential damages. Nothing here limits liability for willful misconduct or gross negligence.

7 · Termination & changes

tl;dr — leave whenever; we give 30 days' notice for material changes; your data exports before it deletes

You may close your account at any time from the dashboard. We may terminate for material breach with 14 days' notice (immediately for §2 violations). If we ever discontinue the service, you get 90 days' notice and export tooling. Material changes to these terms are announced 30 days in advance by email; continued use after that constitutes acceptance. Governing law: California; venue: San Francisco.
