Terms of service

last updated: July 24, 2026 · the tl;dr chips are binding summaries, not marketing

1 · The service

tl;dr — receive-only email, SMS, and HTTP fixtures for automated testing.

MailFixture provides receive-only email inboxes, eligible-plan phone numbers for inbound SMS, public capture-hook URLs for inbound HTTP requests, APIs to query that test traffic, and extraction of structured values such as codes and links. It is built for automated testing and development workflows. We never send email or SMS on your behalf, and captured HTTP requests are never forwarded or replayed.

2 · Acceptable use

tl;dr — test systems you're authorized to test. don't route real users or third-party traffic here.

You may use MailFixture to receive email, SMS, and HTTP requests from systems you own or are authorized to test. You may not: (a) use inboxes or phone numbers as mailboxes for real end-users or receive third parties' personal correspondence; (b) point capture hooks at production or third-party traffic without authorization; (c) use the service to create accounts on, scrape, or evade the anti-abuse measures of services you don't operate or have authorization to test; (d) harvest credentials or intercept traffic intended for someone else; or (e) resell receiving resources as a consumer temp-mail, SMS, or request-bin product. We suspend for abuse first and email you second — CI pipelines of paying customers don't wait on abuse reviews.

3 · Plans, billing, overage

tl;dr — email has soft overage; SMS and capture hooks are hard-capped. cancel any time.

Plans bill monthly in advance through Stripe. No plan limits the number of users in a workspace. Email beyond your plan's monthly allowance bills at $3.50 per 1,000 in arrears; the service does not interrupt email delivery at the limit on paid plans. Free email and all SMS and capture-hook allowances are hard caps with no overage billing; the pricing page states the current limits and refusal behavior. You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel self-serve; downgrades and cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period. Fees are non-refundable except where required by law — or where we broke something, in which case we credit you without being asked.

4 · Your data

tl;dr — your test content is yours; we just hold it briefly. see Privacy.

You retain all rights to email, SMS, and HTTP content received by your MailFixture resources. You grant us the limited license needed to store, parse, match, and serve it back to you. Handling, retention, and deletion are governed by the privacy policy, which is part of these terms.

5 · Service levels

tl;dr — 99.9% API uptime target; credits when we miss it on paid plans

We target 99.9% monthly uptime for the API and email, SMS, and capture-hook ingestion, measured and published on the status page. Paid plans receive service credits of 5% of the monthly fee per 0.1% of missed uptime, capped at 50%, claimed by emailing support within 30 days. Scheduled maintenance is announced 72 hours ahead and doesn't count against uptime — we do it anyway at hours your CI is least likely to notice.

6 · Disclaimers & liability

tl;dr — the service is "as is"; our liability caps at 12 months of fees

The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. Email, SMS carriers, and HTTP delivery all involve systems outside our control; we cannot guarantee every message or request sent to a receiving resource will arrive. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability under these terms is limited to the fees you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, and neither party is liable for indirect or consequential damages. Nothing here limits liability for willful misconduct or gross negligence.

7 · Termination & changes

tl;dr — leave whenever; we give 30 days' notice for material changes; your data exports before it deletes

You may close your account at any time by emailing support@mailfixture.com. We may terminate for material breach with 14 days' notice (immediately for §2 violations). If we ever discontinue the service, you get 90 days' notice and export tooling. Material changes to these terms are announced 30 days in advance by email; continued use after that constitutes acceptance.
